Systems of oppression operate on individual, institutional, and societal levels and their destructive effects on people have a long history deeply rooted in American society and culture. No one is untouched by the harmful effects. During this weekly practice we will explore the impacts of systems of oppression on our minds, bodies, spirits, and relationships. We will use the power of mindfulness and alternative healing modalities to intentionally support the process of identifying and releasing untruths, harmful internalizations, and patterns of trauma.
As Audre Lorde reminds us, “There is no hierarchy of oppressions.” To consciously co-create the world where everyone is free and living in their divine power, each of us must dedicate ourselves to the daily practice of confronting and addressing injustices of racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia. We must start with ourselves. The time is now to explore our own internal pain, scars, fears, biases, and traumas associated with systemic oppression. We offer this weekly practice to support those committed to the path of collective freedom. It’s time for us to RISE.
